Curved Dog / Albariño 2021 (White)
Regular Price ¥5,280When the land and variety truly match, you can feel the terroir of that land in liquid form. For us, Albariño is precisely a variety that can express the terroir. As the name Kakuda-hama suggests, our vineyard where these grapes are planted has an extremely sandy soil resembling a beach. The lightness of the sand that does not retain water and the clean sensation of sand slipping through your fingers when scooped up are reflected in the wine. Additionally, the location, just 1.5 km from the coast, imparts a salty flavor to the wine. While it differs in vector from the Albariño produced in the Rías Baixas region of Spain, I am confident that it is undoubtedly a variety and wine that is well-suited to the land. The 2020 vintage has a glamorous aroma reminiscent of a perfume unique to sandy soils. It features a robust acidity derived from the variety. And the light touch felt the moment it enters the mouth. Yet, it possesses a meticulous flavor that does not convey thinness. Currently, it has a soft taste, but I believe that after further bottle aging, it will develop an even more intricate flavor while also gaining some firmness. 95% stainless steel tank aging. 5% barrel aging.
