Kanata Winery / Pinot Noir 2024 (Red) 750ml
Regular price ¥4,400This variety was planted solely on the winemaker’s “romantic” vision, despite opposition at the cultivation strategy planning meeting. It tests the “pride” of Uozu, the heart of fruit cultivation in Toyama Prefecture... Pinot Noir. It is fermented after cold maceration and aged in wooden barrels.
The 2024 vintage had significant variation in grape ripeness, resulting in two separate harvests. Due to a typhoon forecast, the second harvest was brought forward, and some cold maceration was insufficient, leading to an overall lighter color in the wine.
The flavor still feels young, but it is a light wine with the characteristic aroma, fruitiness, and umami of Pinot Noir, making it easy to pair with seafood.
