Chan Clair / Merlot Barrel Aged 2018 (Red)
Regular price ¥3,960A smooth red wine with rich fruit flavors and soft tannins, slowly aged in barrels. Recommended dishes include grilled eel with sansho pepper and mapo tofu.
<From the Winery>
Chan Clair wines generally have a firm acidity. From immediately after opening to the first day, you can feel fresh fruit flavors and solid acidity. Around the 3rd to 5th day after opening, the wine becomes mellow, with rich aromas, and acidity and astringency blend harmoniously, making the taste richer. Although it varies by individual, it can be enjoyed for about a week.
Please enjoy the wine as it changes with the passage of time.
Also, the recommended dishes are suggested for wine around the 4th to 5th day after opening. Compared to dishes generally said to pair well, red wine seems to go well with yuzu pepper, sansho, and spice-based dishes, while rosé and white wines seem to pair well with Japanese herbs.
It might pair better with sauce-based dishes than with broth- or soy sauce-based ones.
I hope this will be helpful to you.
