In 2023, warm days continued in early spring, causing bud break slightly earlier than usual, but flowering occurred around mid-June, almost as usual. After the rainy season ended on July 22, record-high temperatures and very little rain persisted. Harvesting in our own vineyard started on September 15, the earliest ever for Villadest. From late September, the temperature dropped significantly in the mornings and evenings, creating excellent conditions with a large temperature difference between day and night, and the harvest was completed on October 25.
Due to the intense heat, the sugar content of the grapes increased compared to usual years, the acidity is somewhat mild, and this vintage is characterized by nuances of well-ripened fruit.
