Koaso Farm / Koaso Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot 2022 Timeless Elegance (Red) 750ml

The 2022 vintage, marking the ninth year since our founding, is the first time we have produced both Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that can be aged in barrels.
In 2022, the Koaso area (Ueda City) experienced a hot summer for the first time in five years since 2018. After a rainy period until summer, from August onward there was relatively little rain (935 mm/year within the city), and the sunlight, especially in the latter half, was sufficient, allowing the grapes to ripen well in good condition.
Starting in 2022, we entrusted the red wine production to Cave Hatano in Tōmi City. Hatano-san’s well-regarded elegant use of barrels, combined with ripe Merlot and Cabernet, brings out deep dark cherry notes, a modest yet concentrated cassis aroma, and on the palate, a rich sweetness with smooth acidity, fine tannins like velvet, and a long finish. This modern style pairs well with French and Japanese cuisine, is easy to drink, yet has solid alcohol and body, resulting in a well-crafted red wine.
For the first time as a Koaso wine, we were able to release a barrel-aged wine under the name "Koaso," which is both our company name and the address of our vineyard. The label follows the same concept as the stainless steel series "Rivers," with colors matching the composition of the 2022 wine and bearing the name "Timeless Elegance," expressing the characteristics of the 2022 vintage.
It is already enjoyable to drink now, but it is made to become even smoother over the next five years.
