Contract winemaking at Carefit Farm Winery.
In 2020, heavy rain in May caused downy mildew on the clusters ("cluster downy mildew, berry downy mildew"), leading to early removal of affected clusters. As a result, there was significant yield restriction, concentrating the fruit.
Harvest was delayed until late October, increasing sugar content. To add complexity, a small amount of second crop berries that ripened late on the vineyard trellis were included, along with natural acidity derived from the vines.
Stainless steel tanks used. No added sulfur dioxide, wild yeast used.
Pesticide-reduced cultivation in all fields. No chemical fertilizers or herbicides used.
