Fattoria AL FIORE / POS II 2024 (Red) 750ml
Regular price ¥4,000The 2023 vintage, which we made for the first time, resulted in a wine that did not go as expected, known by the red label as "red POS," as we mentioned.
This year it went well just as we imagined. That's a relief.
While the blue POS is made from Vitis vinifera varieties by Atsushi Yoshida, a contracted farmer in Kaminoyama,
The red POS is mainly made from Hokujun, a rare wild grape variety native to China, by Yosuke Akiba, a contracted farmer in Kaminoyama and a friend of Yoshida.
As you all know, the parent of Muscat Bailey A, a hybrid variety born in Japan, is a crossbreed from the Muscat Hamburg grape,
This Hokujun is also made from a grape born from a cross between Muscat Hamburg and wild grape (Amurensis).
If both grapes are from the same genetic lineage, blending them simply makes sense because they go well together!
We feel this blend, unique to Japan, not only brings out the best of both personalities but also compensates for what each lacks.
The soft fruitiness, berry flavors, gentle acidity and tannins, and sufficient umami combine to create what we believe is a uniquely Japanese wine from the Tohoku region.
It might be one correct answer in the pursuit of what defines Japanese wine. It has grown into such an interesting wine.
We hope you enjoy it with everyone at home or in casual situations.
