Chant Claire is a wine launched in 2021 by Kazuhisa Fujita, who moved from Tokyo to Yamanashi Prefecture.
Mr. Fujita was captivated by grape cultivation through his activities as a regional revitalization cooperation member and started serious grape growing in Akeno, Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture.
After gaining winemaking experience at Tohmu Winery, he now cultivates grapes and makes wine with his wife.
Yamanashi Prefecture, especially Akeno in Hokuto City where the renowned winery Grace Wine (Chuo Budoshu) is located, has an environment suitable for grape cultivation, with some years having the highest sunshine hours in Japan.
Chant Claire's own vineyard is located at an altitude of around 700 meters in a cool area, mainly cultivating European red wine grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Pinot Noir, and Mr. Fujita himself carefully vinifies only a select portion of these grapes.
Mr. Fujita wanted to express the good fortune of being able to cultivate grapes in the name, so the wine brand name Chant Claire is a coined word combining the French words for "bright" and "field/wilderness."
