"Shan Claire" is a wine released in 2021 by Mr. Kazuhisa Fujita, who moved from Tokyo to Yamanashi Prefecture.
Inspired by the activities of the Regional Revitalization Cooperation Corps, Mr. Fujita became fascinated with grape cultivation and began serious grape farming in Akeno, Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture.
After that, I gained brewing experience at Higashiyume Winery, and now the couple is engaged in grape cultivation and brewing.
Yamanashi Prefecture, of course, is home to the world-renowned winery "Grace Wine (Chuo Budoshu)". Akeno in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture, has an environment suitable for grape cultivation, having even recorded years with the highest sunlight hours in Japan.
The vineyards of Champ Clair are located at an elevation of around 700m in a cool area, where they primarily cultivate European red wine grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Pinot Noir. Only a select portion of these carefully chosen grapes is meticulously vinified by Mr. Fujita himself.
It is said that the wine brand name was named "Champ Clair," a coined term combining the French words for "bright" and "field/plain," reflecting Mr. Fujita's desire to express the fortune of being able to cultivate grapes in the name.
