Musashi Winery / Ogawa Ogonko 2020 Extreme (Red) 750ml

The 2020 Petit Prince achieved the best grape quality ever due to improved cultivation methods and stronger yield restrictions, with late-harvest grapes reaching 29 degrees sugar content. Good grapes always make good wine.

After about 8 days of maceration fermentation, it was pressed and the temperature was lowered to 3°C to continue fermentation. We hoped fermentation would stop midway leaving some sweetness, but since the grapes were healthy, fermentation did not stop and proceeded fully.

After primary fermentation, it was deliberately aged for about 2 years without racking in strongly aromatic new American oak barrels (Sur Lie method). The portion aged in stainless steel tanks was reduced from the original plan, and about 90% of the blend is barrel-aged, resulting in a highly aromatic finish.

As before, no substances other than grapes were used in this batch. Carbon dioxide was used to fill the empty space in the stainless steel tank during storage, and inert argon gas was used during bottling. Since no sulfites were added, we take great care to maintain quality during storage and bottling.

The impressions of cassis, dark cherry, and dried fig are common to Petit Prince 2020, but the depth is even more remarkable, with additional notes of coffee, cigar, chocolate, and vanilla from the barrel aroma. Meanwhile, the acidity remains firm, creating a well-balanced wine that you can't help but keep drinking. The color is a deep garnet.

Thanks to the Sur Lie method, it pairs perfectly with all kinds of dishes, and we haven't found anything it doesn't go well with. If we had to pick something, it would definitely be meat.

This wine is already delicious now, but it will undoubtedly become even better in 5 to 10 years.With 876 full bottles and favorable weather, it is the best wine in history.
