Fattoria AL FIORE / Oro reserva 2021 (White) 750ml

This Chardonnay vine, now in its 10th year, has grown into a golden wine worthy of the love poured into it by the wonderful producer Masatoshi Ohno. Although it was a year with little impact from autumn rains, knowing the risks, Mr. Ohno himself kindly advised, "Why not try extending the harvest period?" I still remember being very moved by that. Thanks to that, the moment I entered the vineyard on harvest day, the quality of this wine was already decided. Rich fruitiness, gentle and pleasant acidity, sufficient structure and finish. It is a perfect finish in every aspect. Grapes and wine can only reflect nature itself. It is not always the same every year. Among the flagship series with this Japanese paper label, for particularly excellent cuvées, starting with this Chardonnay, we decided to add the Reserva designation.

The Chardonnay harvested in October was gently pressed after 4 days of skin contact. The yeast in this vineyard is the type that ferments very slowly every year, and amazingly, the 2021 vintage took 7 months to ferment in barrels without any stalling. After that, it was bottled when the lees settled. It was then released after an additional 15 months of bottle aging.
