The first to work on the commercialization of Albariño in Japan was us, Niigata One Coast, but now it is being cultivated in various regions across the country, from Hokkaido in the north to Kyushu in the south.
Considering the rainy season and accumulated temperature, I personally feel a great potential in the Hokuriku and Tohoku regions. (Niigata will be classified as either Hokuriku or Tohoku depending on the organization.)
This wine is made believing in the potential of Albariño from the north (le nord, pronounced "le nord", means north in French), as its name suggests.
The 2022 vintage is a blend of Albariño primarily from Yamagata, along with produce from contracted farmers in Niigata and our own farm.
We combined two methods: direct press and short-term maceration, and further differentiated the production by region.
What you feel from the glass are the scents of stone fruits like peach and apricot, along with the honey of apple and citrus. When you taste it, you can feel the rich fruitiness and acidity, and the slight astringency in the finish tightens the overall experience.
Please enjoy the taste of the Renaud, which is different from the Albarino of sandy soil.
