Curvedocchi / Albariño 2023 (White) 750ml
Regular Price ¥6,160When the land and variety truly match, the wine allows you to feel the terroir in liquid form. For us, Albariño is precisely a variety that can express the terroir. As the name Tsunoda-hama suggests, our vineyard where these grapes are planted has an extremely sandy soil, akin to a sandy beach. The lightness of the sand that does not retain water and the crispness that spills from your hand when you scoop up dry sand are reflected in the wine. And perhaps the faint saltiness is due to our location, just 1.5 km from the coast. While it differs in vector from the Albariño produced in the Rías Baixas region of Spain, I am confident that it is undoubtedly a variety and wine that is well-suited to the land. The year 2023 was one where not a single drop of rain fell from July 20 to September 15. Amidst extreme water shortages causing many clusters to shrivel, this wine was made solely from healthy grapes. The mild acidity, strength of the fruit, and concentration reflect that climate. And surprisingly, even in such an unusual climate, the vibrant aroma, the greatest characteristic of sandy Albariño, can still be distinctly sensed from the glass. Please feel the potential of sandy Albariño.
