Using Chardonnay from a contract vineyard located on the northern side of the cool climate region of Marlborough, in the Wairau Valley. The soil is alluvial with many large stones covering the silt loam, and the 25-year-old Chardonnay vines have stabilized in vigor and yield, allowing for the harvest of wonderful grapes.
Grapes are hand-picked and then pressed whole. After fermentation in French oak (16% new barrels), malolactic fermentation and regular batonnage are performed, and it is aged in barrels for 10 months.
The glass overflows with aromas of rich peaches, apricots, orange peel, and white flowers, harmonized with nuances of butter and vanilla. The lively acidity unique to cool regions and the complex flavors derived from stone fruits and oak barrels create a magnificent balance!
