Bees Knees Vineyards / Purple Peaks 2022 (Red) 750ml
Regular price ¥3,960A co-fermentation of deeply colored Syrah and Viognier harvested as late as possible. Oak flavor is restrained to emphasize fruitiness, though the oak is more pronounced immediately after bottling. It mellows with age.
The aroma of red fruits includes cherry, red currant, and small plums. Amid the spiciness of white pepper, you can sense minerals derived from granite soil. A slight sweetness lingers in the aftertaste, with a lactic acid bacteria nuance from malolactic fermentation in the finish. Compared to Overdrive, it is somewhat lighter and charming, but the 2022 vintage feels heavier than previous years, with complexity increasing alongside vine age. The tannin astringency is slightly noticeable but is expected to become silky with bottle aging.
