This is the Bailey A of Mr. Masato Suzuki, the former president of the Kamiyama Nambu Wine Grape Association, with whom we started our relationship in 2021. Everyone in the association has a high level of awareness and is doing a wonderful job of training, but among them, Mr. Suzuki's one-bud short pruning of Bailey A, which brings everyone together, was remarkable. The year 2022 will be the last Bailey A cultivated by Mr. Masato Suzuki. Starting in 2023, the management has been transferred to his son, Hayato, with support from Masato.
The year 2022 was quite different from 2021, with severe summer heat and a high incidence of late blight, making it a year that required very strict sorting and thinning. However, despite the challenges of such a year, I can only express my gratitude and respect to Mr. Suzuki for cultivating such wonderful grapes.
Thanks to you, the concentrated fruitiness, smooth tannins, lingering umami, and well-balanced subtle acidity are very strong, and I truly believe this is exactly the "Japanese Gamay" we aim for from Muscat Bailey A. I want to continue to evolve our wine to be worthy of Mr. Suzuki, who entrusts us with such exceptional grapes.
I won't say much, but please do try this wine first.
Surely, there may be few people who can recognize it as a single wine from Bailey A in a blind tasting.
