Koaso Farm / Koaso Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot 2022 Timeless Elegance (Red) 750ml

The 2022 vintage, in the 9th year since our founding, is the first time we have produced both Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that can be barrel-aged.
The 2022 Koaso (Ueda City) experienced a hot summer for the first time in five years since 2018. After a rainy period until summer, from August onwards there was relatively little rain (935mm/year in the city) and a decent amount of sunshine, especially in the latter half, allowing the grapes to ripen in good condition.
From 2022, we have entrusted the red wine production to Cave Hatano in Tōmi City. Hatano-san’s well-regarded elegant use of barrels and the ripe Merlot and Cabernet produce a deep dark cherry color, with a restrained yet concentrated cassis aroma. On the palate, you can enjoy rich sweetness, smooth acidity, dense velvety tannins, and a long finish. This modern style of French wine pairs well with Japanese cuisine, is easy to drink, yet has solid alcohol and body.
For the first time as a Koaso wine, the barrel-aged wine was released under the name "Koaso," which is both our company name and the vineyard address. The label follows the same concept as the stainless steel series "Rivers," with colors matching the 2022 wine composition and named "Timeless Elegance" to express the characteristics of the 2022 vintage.
It is already delicious to drink now, but it is made to become even smoother over the next five years.
