Using Chardonnay from a contracted vineyard located on the northern side of the Wairau Valley, a cool climate region in Marlborough. The soil is alluvial with silty loam covered by many large stones, and the 25-year-old Chardonnay vines have stabilized vigor and yield, producing excellent grapes.
The grapes are hand-harvested and whole-cluster pressed. After fermentation in French oak (16% new barrels), malolactic fermentation and regular bâtonnage are carried out, followed by 10 months of barrel aging.
The glass overflows with aromas harmonizing rich peach, apricot, orange peel, and white flowers with nuances of butter and vanilla. A lively acidity unique to cool climate regions balances beautifully with the complex flavors of stone fruits and oak barrel influence, resulting in a superb finish!
