Koaso Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot 2022 Timeless Elegance (Red) 750ml

The 2022 vintage marks the first time in our 9th year of establishment that we have Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot available for barrel production.
The 2022 summer in Koaso (Ueda City) was a hot one, the first in five years since 2018. After a rainy period leading up to summer, the weather changed, and from August onwards, there was relatively little rain (935mm/year = in the city), and we were able to secure a decent amount of sunshine, especially in the latter half, allowing the grapes to ripen in good condition.
Starting in 2022, we entrusted the production of our red wine to Mr. Hatano in Tōmi City, known for his elegant barrel usage and ripe Merlot and Cabernet. The wine features rich dark cherry flavors, with a modest yet concentrated cassis aroma. On the palate, it offers a rich sweetness complemented by smooth acidity, fine tannins reminiscent of velvet, and a long finish, making it easy to pair with modern French and Japanese cuisine while maintaining a solid body and alcohol content.
For the first time, we were able to release a barrel-aged wine under the name "Koaso," which is also our company name and the address of our vineyard. The label follows the same concept as the stainless steel series "Rivers," with a color scheme that matches the composition of the 2022 wine, named "Timeless Elegance," expressing the characteristics of the 2022 vintage.
It is already delicious to enjoy now, but it has been crafted to become even smoother over the next five years.
