For the Merlot from the two vineyards, we usually waited until the Cabernet Sauvignon harvest period.
Avoiding the late rot disease, which troubles us almost every year, was also a factor that allowed us to extend the harvest.
Merlot is considered a variety that rarely matures as expected, so the planted area has gradually decreased compared to the early years of the winery. As a result, the regular Merlot, which was released as a regular red wine from 2013 to 2017, has been discontinued since 2018.
This time marks the return of the regular Merlot after about 4 vintages. It is by no means a rich flavor, but it offers a spicy and green essence typical of Merlot from cool regions, combined with harmonious notes of cassis and plum. Released after a certain degree of aging, there’s no confusion about the best time to drink it.
