The vineyard is located in the high-altitude Awatere Valley, which is drier and cooler than other subregions, allowing the grapes to grow slowly. Situated on a scenic river terrace, the soil is well-drained silty loam mixed with stones. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented after about a week of cold maceration, with pigeage performed 2 to 3 times a day. The wine is aged for 11 months in French oak (20% new barrels). Aromas of ripe red plum, raspberry, and cherry fruit, with a floral violet scent and a subtle harmony of sweet spices like clove and cinnamon. This elegant Pinot Noir features pure red fruit flavors and gentle tannins.
