The grape growers are a couple who relocated from Yokohama. Cultivating in Azumino is challenging, and there are still few Cabernet Franc growers. The 2021 vintage benefited from favorable weather, producing high-quality grapes. These memorable grapes were harvested in Azumino by the couple together with the nursery owners of Yokohama Vineyard, managed by Yokohama Winery.
A bright, clear crimson color. Moderate astringency and acidity. Aromas of cherry, raspberry, and violet flowers, with a smooth mouthfeel. The body is light and elegant. Pairs well with sweet onion-based sauce dishes. This is a gentle, easy-to-drink Japanese red wine that pairs effortlessly with a wide range of meals. Cabernet Franc is often blended with other red grape varieties and rarely bottled alone, but Hamawine was captivated by its charming and enjoyable flavor and has released it as a single-varietal wine.
