Fukagawa Winery Tokyo / Chardonnay from Sagae City, Yamagata Prefecture, Aged in Oak Barrels, 2019 (White) 750ml
Regular Price ¥5,500During the COVID period, I was timing the extraction of wine from the barrel for bottling, but with each tasting, I felt a sense that it was becoming even more delicious, and before I knew it, 3 years and 7 months had passed.
On October 8, 2019, Mr. Etsuro Abiko, a grape producer from Sagae City, Yamagata Prefecture, harvested Chardonnay that he had carefully cultivated. It was fermented and aged in French oak barrels. After a maturation period of about 3 years and 7 months, it was bottled in May 2023. The wine has a robust oak aroma from barrel aging, along with sweet and fragrant notes of vanilla, butter, walnuts, and coconut. It features a rich and full-bodied dry taste, combining refreshing citrus and honey aromas from the fruit with toasty notes in the finish.
