We, Niigata One Coast, were the first in Japan to work on commercializing Albariño, but now it is cultivated in various regions across the country, from Hokkaido in the north to Kyushu in the south. Personally, considering the rainy season and accumulated temperature, I see great potential in Hokuriku and Tohoku. (Niigata is classified as either Hokuriku or Tohoku depending on the organization.) This wine, as its name suggests, is made believing in the potential of northern Albariño (le nord, pronounced "le no" in French, meaning "north"). The 2023 vintage is a blend of Albariño mainly from Yamagata, along with contracted farms in Niigata and our own vineyard. The ratio of Niigata-grown grapes has been increasing year by year, and the flavor has been changing. Both Yamagata and Niigata experienced a hot summer, which is reflected in the quality of the wine. From the glass, you can sense aromas of stone fruits like peach and apricot, as well as apple honey and citrus. On the palate, it offers rich fruitiness and gentle acidity, with a slight astringency in the finish that tightens the overall impression. Please enjoy Renault, which has a different taste from sandy Albariño.
