Cave d'Occhi / Albariño Renault 2024 (White) 750ml
Regular price ¥4,620/
Including tax
The Cepage series aims to faithfully express the grape variety’s character and terroir.
True to the French word Le nord (Renault), meaning "north," this Albariño is made from purchased grapes from Yamagata and Niigata.
Albariño is grown in various regions across Japan from Hokkaido to Kyushu, but considering rainfall and accumulated temperature, we see great potential for Albariño cultivated in Hokuriku and Tohoku.
Our own vineyard has sandy soil near the coast, but Yamagata features strong clay soil in the mountains. Naturally, different soils produce completely different grapes and wines.
The powerful attack and fresh flavors, absent in sandy soils, highlight the difference in terroir.
In 2024, we crafted this with Petit Manseng to bring out the fruitiness while maintaining the strong structure typical of Yamagata, supported by a small amount from our own vineyard to enhance the top aromas.
You can sense notes of citrus, yellow peach, apricot, green apple, fermented butter, and refreshing herbs. When tasted, clear minerals like spring water spread across the palate, with the variety’s natural acidity and slight bitterness tightening the finish.
This Renault is the "Mountain Albariño." Please enjoy the powerful and fresh terroir that differs from the sandy Albariño.
