With over 190 years of history in Yamagata Prefecture and known for high-quality sake specializing in Junmai Daiginjo, Tatenokawa Shuzo launched Gakkogawa Distillery in autumn 2023 as a new challenge to produce whisky.
The new pot released the following year in 2024 won a silver medal at the prestigious World Whiskies Award 2025, earning high praise and expectations domestically and internationally for its quality and potential despite its youth.
This product, NEW BORN 2026 Edition, is the first from Gakkogawa Distillery to undergo barrel aging.
Distilled in March 2024, this 20-month-aged New Born is a vatting of carefully selected base spirits aged in first-fill bourbon barrels. It embodies the "beautiful flavor" Gakkogawa Distillery has pursued.
