Many of you may already be familiar, but Delaware is one of the table grape varieties widely cultivated throughout Japan.
Why do we make wine from table grapes? One major reason is our mission to "protect the grapes of neighboring farmers."
Over time, with changes in breeding and trends, demand has shifted significantly, and the value of Delaware has been declining compared to before. Many farmers have responded by cutting down vines, replanting, or even going out of business.
Nevertheless, we feel that Delaware and Steuben, indigenous native varieties in Japan, have great potential for winemaking here.
They are very different from the wine grapes grown in Europe, and for various reasons, making wine from them is not easy.
However, in terms of spreading Japanese wine widely around the world, we want to remain committed to Delaware and Steuben grapes.
Although gradually, this trend is already being accepted by people overseas as well.
We also feel that many fans of Delaware and Steuben grapes support AlfioRe.
Please try to enjoy this Arancia from an objective perspective, without any preconceived notions about the grape variety, and appreciate it with an open mind.
The process involves fermenting Delaware grapes in an amphora for 130 days, then pressing, returning to the amphora, sealing after fermentation ends, and aging oxidatively for 3 months. After that, it is barrel-aged in old barrels for 6 months before bottling.
At this point, it still has a slight firmness, but if you let it rest a little before drinking, I believe the flavors will come together even more harmoniously.
