This is Muscat Bailey A from Masato Suzuki, former chairman of the Kaminoyama Southern Wine Grape Association, with whom we started working in 2021.
Everyone in the cooperative is highly conscious and does excellent work, but among them, Mr. Suzuki’s open-field Muscat Bailey A with single-cane spur pruning stood out remarkably.
Since 2022, under the support of Masato-san, management has been transferred to his son, Hayato-san.
His father's sincerity has definitely been passed down, and the cultivation management is perfectly detailed.
The summer of 2023 was intensely hot, with many cases of bunch rot, making it a year that required very strict sorting and thinning.
However, we can only express our gratitude and respect to Mr. Suzuki, who crafted such wonderful grapes despite those challenges.
Thanks to that, the concentrated fruit flavor, smooth tannins, lingering umami, and balanced subtle acidity are very strong, truly embodying what we aim for as the "Japanese Gamay" from Muscat Bailey A.
We want to continue evolving the wine so that it lives up to Mr. Suzuki, who entrusts us with such premium grapes.
We don’t say much, but please try tasting this wine first.
Surely, there may be few people who can tell just by blind tasting that this is a single-varietal Bailey A wine.
